Aside from a brief foray into visual merchandising, I’ve worked consistently within the arts; be it in an art shop, a gallery, managing artists studios and/or as a visual artist and tutor. I ran my own successful art school for adults in Sydney before moving to the Mid North Coast in 2018.
I have been the director of several artists groups such as The Art Sanctuary and Artistree Studios and an active member of Northern Expressions and Creative Wauchope and Wauchope Community Arts Council. I have organised and marketed many events including Open Studio days, Artists Markets and “the Artists pARTy” which included painting to live music, life drawing and rambling poetry readings.
I established and ran Artistree Studios and Gallery at North Head Artists Precinct in Manly, managed a gallery and studio space with 12 artists, was an Artist in residence at Westfield in Sydney and co-directed the Art Sanctuary Gallery and Studios in Sydney. As a contractor, I taught for Sabaai, Wesley College, Erin Hill Sketching and Manly Art Gallery and Museum. I have also curated large public exhibitions and developed and facilitated community events including art experiences for those suffering from Anxiety and Depression.
My work has been exhibited in over 40 galleries since 2006. Venues include; Warringah Creative Space, Parliament House Sydney, Underground ARTspace, Mosman Art Gallery, Gallery Lane Cove, The Painters’ Gallery, Manly Art Gallery and Museum, Lavender Bay Gallery, Glenn St Theatre, Art Focus Gallery, Casula Powerhouse, Orange Regional Gallery, Griffith Regional Galleries and Sunset Gallery in Port Macquarie. With over 40 of my works on display in my solo show at The Warringah Creative Space in 2016, it was a great opportunity to show my diverse styles, mediums and artistic progression. Well attended offshoot events such as artist talks, workshops and “Dinner with the Artist” created a wonderful sense of engagement and community.
I have been part of many creative events and exhibitions in the Hastings area since 1995, the latest work on display winning “People’s Choice” in the Twice Formed Exhibition at Sunset Gallery. (2020)
